Temporarily on Guard

I come in here to work
Five days of every week,
I wear my badge and my tie,
My “uniform,” so to speak,
I’ve got a walkie-talkie, you bet I can
Walk and I can talk,
I punch in and I punch out,
I put eight hours on the clock.
I’ve got to stand on my feet,
It ain’t no Easy Street, being a
Gallery, a gallery, a gallery guard.

I do my job with just about
All of my heart,
To protect each and every precious
Objet d’art,
The people stream in each day, they got all of their
Backpacks and such,
Please step back, don’t get so close,
And Please Do Not Touch,
I’ve got to watch em like a hawk,
It ain’t no walk in the park, being a
Gallery, a gallery, a gallery guard.

(chorus)

But it’s temporary,
Tempo, tempo, rary, tempo-
Ra-ry, ra-ry, temporary, a-rary,
I’m just here to pay for my lease,
Till I finish my masterpiece,
T-temporary, T-temporar-ry, a rar-y.

There’s one big thing,
That’s not so great about this gig,
Nuh-nuh-nuh-nothing nothing ever happens,
You could fa-lip your wig

Cause it’s the same lame deal,

painting

Storm on the Sea of Galilee, by Rembrandt (If you don't watch out, a painting like this could get stolen while you're complaining about your job)

It’s like t-time stands still,
No no excitement, no big scenes,
Just the same lame drill,
I’ve got to keep myself awake
Until my coffee break, from being a
Gallery, a gallery guard.

But it’s temporary,
Tempo, tempo, rary, tempo-
Ra-ry, ra-ry, temporary, a-rary,
I’m just here to pay for my lease,
Till I finish my masterpiece,
T-temporary, T-temporar-ry, a rar-y.
